Arts & Mental Health ~ Including Volunteer Work & Training
An interest in what it means to be human led me to study for The Advanced Diploma in The Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts at The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE). After obtaining my Advanced Diploma, I volunteered at Bananas Art
for several months in 2014, an art group for adults recovering from mental health conditions. I also took part in the European Reminiscence Project’s Remembering Yesterday, Caring Today
(RYCT) programme with Westminster Arts*, where I qualified to lead RYCT reminiscence groups and have also delivered art sessions to residents in residential care homes for adults with physical and learning disabilities.
*See the Links section for more information on Westminster Arts and Reminiscence Arts training, as well as other useful links regarding the therapeutic use of art.
